All published HPDs can be found in the HPD Public Repository. The Repository is the authoritative and required location for published HPDs. The Repository offers search capabilities, such as by product category, for HPD users such as architects to find applicable HPDs.

An HPD must be published to the HPD Public Repository to be considered “public,” “publicly disclosed,” “published,” or similar. Once an HPD is published, a manufacturer may take additional steps to publicly share it, e.g. posting on its website, sharing it with customers, and publishing it in public libraries and databases. HPDC offers an API from the HPD Public Repository so that participating databases and libraries can access published HPDs.

When a manufacturer publishes an HPD using the HPD Builder, it is automatically uploaded to the Repository as a PDF file. HPDs that have been created by means other than the HPD Builder can also be uploaded to the Repository by the manufacturer. Once uploaded, an HPD is considered to be a “Public HPD.” Uploaded PDFs are then searchable and available to be downloaded by users – Architects, Designers, Project Teams, Property owners or any interested party. A simple search capability is available to aid in finding HPDs by Manufacturer, Product Name, CSI MasterFormat® Classification or HPD version.
