The steps below are to be followed in order to report proprietary substance or polymer data in the HPDs:
- Go to Section: Substances, Materials, & Polymers.
- Click "Add Substance", for polymers, go to the polymers tab click "Add Polymer"
- Search substances/polymers by "CAS RN# or Identifier" in the search box and select the substance/polymer.
- Delete the name of the substance/polymer added under "Substance Name" and replace it with "Proprietary". You may add tags to track multiple proprietary substances in the same HPD. i.e.: Proprietary A, B, or C, or Proprietary pigment.
- Select "Do not disclose the name of this substance on the HPD."
- Select "I do not want to disclose this substance's CAS RN in the HPD Builder."
- Enter the rest of the data and save.
Once a substance/polymer has been entered to the HPD following these steps, the name and the ID for the entry are not editable. Therefore, it is impossible for any user to go back and see the substance/polymers CAS RN. Users may check the entry was entered correctly by clicking the eyeball or edit icons, and by previewing the HPD draft.
These steps are to be followed by manufacturers and consultants. Suppliers may also report proprietary data directly on your HPD Builder account. In this case, you will grant access to your suppliers to your account, and they will be able to see what you see. Having this in mind, make sure any proprietary data is appropriately reported prior to granting access to suppliers.
An extra step is added to the process above for supplier to report data in your HPD:
- Invite suppliers/consultants as team members to your Builder account. The "Invite team member" button is located on the left of your Dashboard. Your suppliers will receive an email notifying them of the invitation. Once the suppliers/consultants have access to the Builder, they will see your HPDs. Please indicate suppliers which product and Nested Material corresponds to their product so they can locate the right record. Supplier should follow the steps above for reporting their content.
