The Health Product Declaration (HPD) is a flexible format that is most often used by manufacturers to report data on complete building products that may be delivered to a construction job site.

However, product manufacturers often need to gather data from their supply chains in order to complete an HPD on their products. For that reason, effective with the implementation of HPD v2.2 in the HPD Builder in May 2020:

  • ingredient or component suppliers may report data on a Supplier HPD,
  • while manufacturers of complete products can continue to use the regular HPD format, which will now specifically be called the Product HPD.

The Supplier HPD provides a focused specification, a proper subset of HPD Open Standard data, for direct reporting of information by an ingredient supplier. Supplier HPDs are created using the Supplier HPD Extension to the HPD Builder. The Supplier HPD Builder Extension allows manufacturers and their suppliers to be able to communicate and share information, including provisions for confidential business information, and be assured of compliance with the HPD Open Standard.
