Note: As of May 18, 2020, HPD v2.2 became the current effective version of the HPD Open Standard.

HPDC updated the HPD Open Standard from v2.1 to v2.1.1 in 2018 to address several specific, immediate issues.

HPD v2.1.1 is not an overall standard revision. It represents ongoing, continuous improvement of the HPD Open Standard in response to manufacturers, designers, project teams, partner organizations, and other stakeholders.

Changes can be categorized into three main areas:

  • Revisions to the Format and Instructions to enable implementation of Special Conditions (read more about Special Conditions here).
  • Revisions to the Instructions to clarify requirements for Hazard Screening and to create an evolving “Harmonized Method for Hazard Screening” in Emerging Best Practices. This new policy helps ensure consistent, verifiable results for hazard screening information displayed on an HPD.
  • Revisions to the Instructions to clarify several other requirements that had been misinterpreted and editorial corrections.
