What's New in HPD Builder: HPD Open Standard Version 3.0 is the Effective Version as of September 29, 2023
On September 29th, 2025, the Health Product Declaration Collaborative (HPDC) released a new version of the HPD Open Standard, first published in July 2025. On September 29th, 2025, the implementation of the Version 3.0 was completed in the HPD Builder. HPDs completed under v2.3 or previous versions of the HPD Open Standard will remain valid through their existing expiry dates. As of September 20th, 2025, all newly published HPDs will be using HPD Version 3.0.
The HPD Builder ensures conformance to the HPD Open Standard 3.0. Users who need to update records created with previous versions can update to v3.0 within the HPD Builder.
Key new features of the HPD Open Standard v3.0 are:
EU HPD: Generate an EU-specific HPD format that aligns with REACH and other European regulations, highlighting SVHCs and EU-recognized certifications for improved regional compliance.
Pharos Screening by EC Number: Hazard screening now supports EC Numbers, improving compatibility with European chemical regulations and enhancing data accuracy.
Metal Alloy Special Condition – Alloying Element Inventory : A new Alloying Element Inventory allows detailed reporting of metal compositions, with individual hazard screening for each element.
PFAS Attestation & PFAS Screening Tool: Manufacturers can now declare PFAS presence below reporting thresholds and use a built-in screening tool linked to the Green Science Policy Institute’s PFAS list.
Expanded Product Type Taxonomy: A more granular classification system improves product searchability and filtering, aligned with industry standards like Athena.
Section 3 Compliance Section (former certification section) New fields support certifications such as JUST, B Corp, and Fair Trade, along with an optional survey tab for self-reported equity practices.
Survey Tab Added for Social Equity: enables manufacturers to provide self-reported information on organizational equity practices, supporting transparency and alignment with social responsibility goals.
